Why you should sleep in the nude

Majority of us sleep swaddled in some sort of clothing; shorts, tee shirt, full-on pajamas or night gown. Sleeping naked has great health benefits, besides sex. Here are some reasons why you should sleep naked.

It maintains a healthy sperm count
Sleeping with layers of clothes on causes the body to heat up. There is a reason why the scrotum that contains testicles which produce sperm is located outside the body. Testicles are sensitive to temperature, and need comparatively cooler temperatures for proper functioning, which is why they are located just outside the body. Sleeping naked allows the body to cool, and thus maintain a healthy sperm count. Testicles that are kept cooler by sleeping in the nude are apt to produce healthier sperm. Also when you expose your vagina to unobstructed air flow every night this can help to reduce the growth of yeast and unwelcome bacteria. On the other hand, testes are meant to be cooler than the rest of the body.

Your body can breathe and rid itself of skin infections
Airing the body and all its corners and crevices is essential. The growth of fungal and bacterial infections in private parts is very common, especially in hot and humid climes. Wearing tight clothes throughout the day makes it worse. While that can’t be helped, one should shed off the layers of clothes, especially tight underwear, at night while sleeping and let the skin breathe.  It also encourages healthier skin, since there are now seams or waistbands pushing in and encouraging dryness or wrinkles.

You get better sleep
When we sleep, our body temperature goes down, but wearing clothes interferes with this process. Sleeping in the nude helps cool down the body faster, and therefore, promotes better sleep. Our brain needs a cool temperature to relax the body, and shedding clothes helps it do that better.
As you sleep, your body naturally dips in temperature. It’s beneficial for the body to cool down, and it encourages deeper, more restful sleep. If your body is overheated, wrapped in thick socks and pants, you may not be able to release excess heat, which could rob you of a solid night’s sleep.

It leads to greater intimacy and a healthier relationship
It is a fact that physical contact, especially skin-to-skin contact, boosts the production of oxytocin, the happy hormone that reduces stress and strengthens immunity. Sleeping naked raises the chance of skin-to-skin contact. The production of oxytocin, the love hormone, also boosts intimacy between couples, resulting in a better love life.
Skin to skin contact with your significant other increases the amount of oxytocin your body produces. Oxytocin is a powerful hormone that increases bonding and feelings of attachment.

Sleeping naked balances melatonin and growth hormone
Sleeping in the buff helps maintain a low body temperature that not only results in sound sleep but also creates a healthy balance between melatonin and growth hormone, which is essential in cell repair and growth. So basically, if you sleep naked, you remain young longer.

Improves metabolism.
Sleeping naked reduce excess belly fat by balancing cortisol levels, your stress hormone. Cortisol levels drop between 10pm and 2am, so if you are not getting enough sleep, you may have excess amounts of stress hormones in the body upon waking that could encourage excess belly fat.
Sleeping in the nude in a cooler temperature has also been shown to lower blood sugar levels with the potential of preventing type II diabetes. It also encourages the body to transform regular fat into metabolism-boosting brown fat, which is responsible for temperature regulation and improved insulin sensitivity.
